5 McCallie Ave/Bailey Ave Discussion

Street changeover was promoted by neighborhood associations and UTC.   Traffic on streets has changed less than 1% in last 15 years.

Ben Taylor proposed that BTF position be as follows:   Current one way situation is fine as Bicycle Master Plan already addresses bike lanes on these roads.  However two-way switch is fine but propose that bicycle lanes be strongly considered.  Need to evaluate need for parking along entire length of McCallie.

Proposed that BTF draft letter to Mayor, cc Bill McDonald.    Karen Hundt will check with consultants on width of streets.

6 Karen Rhodes - MPO

7 Report from Ben Taylor/Traffic Engineering

Priority 1 projects should be complete by the end of the year.   This involves posting "Share the Road" and Bike Route signage.   Need to verify status of CARTA bicycle racks (including Incline).  Ben will follow-up with Jeff Fitzer/Budget Planner.  Also need to verify with CARTA on training/education once racks are installed.

7.1 Master Plan - Priority 1

Priority 1 projects should be complete by the end of the year.  This involves posting "Share the Road" and Bike Route signage.  Need to verify status of CARTA bicycle racks (including Incline).  Ben will follow-up with Jeff Fitzer/Budget Planner.  Also need to verify with CARTA on training/education once racks are installed.

7.2 Bicycle Counts

Requested volunteers to perform bicycle counts at key intersections.  Ben will contact those interested and establish schedule to perform.  If you were not at meeting but would like to assist, please let me know.

7.3 TDOT Dept of Safety Grants

Francis Hall suggested that we investigate TDOT DOS grants to promote education and safety for cycling.  This could include mailers to licensed driver for renewal that would promote bicycle safety.  We will also check on existing TDOT pamphlet on Bike/Road safety.

8 Next Meeting -- Nov 14.
