CBC General Meeting Minutes
October 18, 2004
1 Attendance
The meeting was held at the Downtown
YMCA. Introductions were made and welcome was extended to all old and new
members in attendance.
2 Business
General
The minutes from the September CBC
Club meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer’s report was given by
George Perry. CBC account currently stands at $25,420.
A report on the Sequatchie Century
was given. The Event brought in $3,345.00, with 450 riders participating.
$1,300.00 was presented to the Marion County Band. A contribution will also be
made to the Marion County Food Bank in the near future.
Bylaws Committee Report
A report was given by the Bylaws
committee. On the advise of the Attorneys retained by CBC, the Club is now
ready to proceed with Incorporation. David Blackwell will represent the Club in
communication with the appropriate entities on this, as well as pertaining to
the non-profit status (501-C ?). CBC member Ralph Anderson, a UTC professor of
Business Law and expert on the topic, will be consulted.
Ride Coordinator
Ride coordinator Jim Johnson was not
present, however ride leaders were recruited and encouraged to contact him asap.
The upcoming Ocoee Weekend with the
Harpeth Bicycle Club was again announced and participation was encouraged. The
event will be held later this month. Camp Ocoee has been reserved, assuring
excellent accommodations. The event will be catered. A variety of activities
such as Mountain Biking, Rafting, and Hiking will be offered.
A Training Tour is tentatively being
planed for Spring 2005 by Mark Fasczewski, CBC member and Certified Athletic
Trainer who focuses on Cycling. Emphasis will be on preparation for the 3 State
3 Mountain.
New Jersey Order
The “New Jersey” order has been
placed with Louis Garneau. 100 jerseys and 150 pairs of socks were ordered.
70+ have either been purchased or reserved. The cost of the jersey is $53.00;
socks are $5.00. The order is expected to arrive in mid-December. Other
merchandise available includes the Afghan/throw, several T-Shirts from past
events, and a small number of the “Old-style” jerseys.
Incline Bike Discount Tickets
Daisy Blanton reported on the CARTA
Bike rack that is now available for use on the Incline. Efforts are underway in
conjunction with the Bicycle Task Force and CARTA to make this a more affordable
transportation option for Cyclists. CBC will explore the possibility of
Discount tickets being made available for cyclist wishing to use the rack.
Ride Against Cancer
John Karr made a proposal that the
Ride Against Cancer be moved to April in 2005, and be promoted by CBC (though
this is not a CBC sponsored event) as a training ride for the 3 ST 3 MTN. There
were no objections.
IMBA Trail Stewardship Award
It was announced that IMBA has made
available a $500.00 tool package to be used for trail building. It is
anticipated the CBC will be more active in mountain biking and trail
building/maintenance in the new year.
NCCC Reorganization
New member Dean Poi discussed the
possibility of former North Chattanooga Cycling Club members becoming CBC
members. NCCC was primarily a racing club, and is in the process of
restructuring. This will be discussed further at the CBC November Board
Meeting.
CBC Christmas Party/Annual Meeting
The Christmas Party/ Annual Meeting
will be held in January 2005. Options for location will be explored.
The next CBC Membership meeting will
be held November 15 at the Downtown YMCA.
With no further business, the meeting
was adjourned.
