3-State 3-Mountain
2008 Ride Results
Wow! What a start for the 2008 3-State 3-Mountain
Challenge. A thunderstorm at 8:00 caused the official start to be
postponed by 30 minutes. Many riders never come over to the stadium that morning
and many of those there, left because it just wouldn't let up. But us optimists
(who weren't riding) felt that surely it would stop before long. It let up
slightly at 8:30 so roughly 1300 to 1400 riders took off. Then another wave of
rain came. Several turned back and several waited at the sag stop to ride back
on the bus we had to help out. But many continued on. The rain stopped soon and
the rest of the day just continued to get prettier. Many started later on in the
morning. It was challenging to the sag vehicles on the route but we managed to
get everyone back in. Those that finished had a wonderful time. What a
day! And what wonderful participants. Anyone who started has truly won my total
respect.
Thanks to all who helped make this
event possible. We couldn't do it without every one of you. The City of
Chattanooga was absolutely wonderful with their support. We had the cones put
out at the end but the crossing guards were a gift from the city. What a
wonderful way to say 'Welcome to Chattanooga'. They were there supporting us all
along the way. I believe we are
having more folks stay in Chattanooga longer and bringing their families. What a
great welcome to the city.
Note: These results are not exact.
They are the best we could figure out. This is not a race so exact accuracy is
not a high priority. But we know that folks like to compare how they do from
year to year so we do our best. When start times and routes are so confused,
many folks didn't check in or let us know that they weren't riding. We If anyone didn't get
a patch and would like one, just contact Daisy so she
can get you one. So please help us
out. If you
see information that you know is incorrect or missing and can help us find the correct information, please
email Daisy at
DaisyBRider@chattbike.com.
Thanks to the Birds Eye View, photos
from below the bridge on Hwy 41 are available at their web site
www.birdseyeview.net. They are listed
by time and include instructions on how to purchase. Steve Thomas, one of our members, has
taken some great candid shots from the finish and various places on the course.
They may be found on
www.sgtphoto.com
. If anyone has any pictures of the ride and can
send them to me, we would love to include them on this site.
Results are still under construction and
will be added as built. I'll get them posted as soon as I can.
Remember, this is all in fun. The object is to enjoy the ride.
Congratulations! to all who survived
the 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge!
