Tanasi Family Mountain Bike Festival
September 30-October 1, 2000

The Cherokee National Forest has been very proactive in working with mountain bikers to construct and maintain trails. This region is home to some of the finest off-road bike trails to be found. Tanasi is a newly dedicated trail complex that will eventually encompass over 40 miles of trails. From the Whitewater Center, a bridge across the Ocoee River is the gateway to a new system of trails which will cross Chestnut Mountain to link with the Iron Mountain and Conasauga River trails.

First you must register for an event - of course coffee and bagels takes the early morning chill off.	These kids are raring to go!

Nestled in the heart of the Cherokee National Forest, the beauty is overwhelming	There was fun for all ages - not all required bikes

There are just some skills that kids have the edge. (Or maybe there are just some kids that have the edge on the rest of us.)	Of course, for most of us, just getting to a good sitting rock was enough challenge.
Bluegrass music from the Hiwassee Ridge made a great ending to a perfect day -- of course, we still had to relax by the campfire	And let's don't forget the river.  What a site for a festival!
